All Key Stages: Rivers

This programme includes a visit to a field site and an initial classroom session at the Centre. On arrival, the children/students will be introduced to the activities for the day, including a discussion of terms to be used. There is then time for refreshments and use of toilets, before travelling (need school transport for this) to our wooded valley, Vallis Vale, Nr Frome. Field activities can include 3 of the following:

• Measuring width, cross-section depth and speed of river
• Field sketch of a meander and confluence
• Map of river identifying area of erosion and deposition
• Collecting , drawing and identifying river wildlife

Please note wellies are essential to get safe access to river.
