About the Somerset Earth Science Centre

The Somerset Earth Science Centre was opened by HRH The Princess Royal in 2009. It is a beautiful energy-efficient building in a peaceful lakeside setting, surrounding by woodland.

Our facilities

We have a large classroom area equipped with the latest audio visual technology. In addition, we offer kitchen facilities, a cloakroom and toilets and  sheltered outside seating areas. Visitors have access to a large grassy meadow and stunning walks around the lake. As a result, we provide a perfect venue for educational visits, business meetings and community activities.

Accessible for all

As a state-of-the-art architect-designed facility, the Earth Science Centre is accessible to all visits. There are no steps around the centre and the doors are wide enough for wheelchairs to pass through. We have adapted toilet facilities for those with limited mobility or other needs.

Hospitality

The fully-equipped kitchen provides you with everything needed to create your own refreshments. Alternatively, we have good relationships with a variety of local catering companies who can meet your needs.
